Where Is God?

In the wake of hurricane Harvey and now hurricane Irma many wonder where God is? Where was God when the people died during the storm? Does God not care? Let me rest assure you that God is in our midst and nearer to us than we could ever imagine. He is with those that lose their life just as much as He is with those who gain life.

“The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭34:18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We may not understand all that God does, but we can be rest assured that it is always for the good and apart of His divine plan. He loves us beyond measures and care for us even when He seems far away.

One thing that really hinders us when thinking about devastating events and trying to understand why God has allowed it to happen is that we focus solely on the temporary. We focus so much on this life that we lose sight of the big picture, we lose sight of our true home that is with the Lord forever in heaven. This life is but a dream and the people who have died in the tragic event, we can at least pray for their families and be at ease with the thought of them already in heaven with the Lord. They are already home.

No matter what storms of life you may be dealing with today be rest assured that God is near. He is with you all the way and will strengthen you through it. No matter what happens, whether good or bad, understand that ultimately all things work out for the good regardless if you fully understand it or not. Remember to keep looking at the big picture and to always keep your sights set on Jesus and your eternal home.
