Seeking Discernment In A Blind World

It amazes me how much we rely on technology today for pretty much everything. I see people asking Siri for restaurants rather than just looking on their maps. Now there are the at home devices like Alexa that helps you with any and all questions and of course keeps track of your every move (Talk about lack of privacy).

The part I believe that strikes me the most is that we are losing discernment and a sense of direction today without someone telling us. My generation especially does this as we have relied on the thoughts of our parents and peers so much, much more than any previous generation, to the point where we can not think for ourselves. Once one little thing goes wrong we are immediately running to our parents or peers seeking answers instead of praying and searching for it ourselves.

“So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭2:2-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Bible tells us to seek for discernment and wisdom like searching for hidden treasure. We should be in close communion with God, asking Him to reveal to us what we should do in certain situations. We should be asking Him to provide wisdom and discernment by the revealing through the Holy Spirit. Without seeking from God we only obtain human answers and limited perspective.

It is up to us to seek out wisdom and discernment from God, and like the book of James declares;

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

‭‭James‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God will bless us as we seek Him diligently, but it is up to us to do so and we must have patience during times of seeking. It is amazing when God speaks to our hearts and minds revealing Himself and His wisdom to us more and more. The more we live and walk in the Spirit the more the Spirit will reveal to us. People have great advice sometimes, but no one knows the will of God for your life and it is your job to get close with God in order to discern it.

It may be hard to seek wisdom and discernment as it is a life long journey of trials and errors, but the ultimate end is sweet as honey. Let other people rely on “GPS” to guide them, while you seek out discernment, understanding and wisdom from the Lord who provides. Seek and you shall find.
