Fear is not just a term of being afraid of something, but also a reference of high respect. I see a lot of people today that praise God and ask Him for blessings like some sort of genie, and yet do they truly fear Him? As Christians in a selfish culture fully understand and feel the awesome presence of the Lord in our life? Do we tremble when He is near?
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.”
Psalms 111:10 NKJV
We can not fully appreciate what God does for us without first having high respect for Him. He is awesome and mysterious and no man can know His ways. He is the creator as well as the sustainer of all things. Only by Him are we even here and do remain alive.
I believe that when we truly come to know the Lord and have a personal relationship with Him, we come to fear Him and want to live for Him above all else. At that point we do not just call on Him when we need something, but rather He becomes a part of our everyday life and is involved in everything we do. This is not to say He is not with everyone all the time anyways, but at that point we come to fully realize His awesome and fearful presence with us all the time. Do you truly fear the Lord?
