Do Not Believe Every Word

It is amazing how much fake news goes around the internet today and on top of that, how many actually believe the fake news. We live in a time of title reading where people simply read titles and then express their views without even reading any bit of an article. This same thing also happens in many of the churches today where Christians simply go, listen and then go home filled with non sense with no actual Biblical backing.

“The simple believes every word, but the prudent considers well his steps.” (Proverbs 14:15 NKJV).

The best way to approach any teaching, regardless of who is teaching, is by simply taking it in and then praying on the teaching as well as seeking out whether or not it is truth. Just to simply listen to a teacher or read one article and assume they are correct is just plain, well, dumb!

God wants us to live by wisdom and wisdom only comes over time, and thus it is up to us to take the time to study, learn and grow properly. Instantly assuming or agreeing without research is like trying to jump off a plane because someone tells you it is OK and that you have a parachute, only to find out that you do not. Careful examination of what others say, teach and write will do us all much good as we can then discern between truth and complete poppycock.

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1).

Next time you hear someone preaching a sermon make sure to go home and pray and study what they said to see whether or not it is truth, no matter how good it may sound. Only because something sounds good does not mean it is truth (Just look at the prosperity preachers). The more we examine, the more we will learn and grow in wisdom and truth while pleasing God.
