God’s grace is absolutely amazing as we come to Him as we are and He accepts us. He then begins to do a life long work in our life of transformation and renewal in which we become new creations in Him, leaving the old person far behind.
Many Christians today get confused with this concept as they look only at the grace and not the new creation. I have heard churches teach that God loves you anyways and that you do not need to change. Though there is truth that God does love you anyways, that still does not give us the right to continue living in sin.
“‘And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled.’” (Deuteronomy 11:13-15 NKJV)
In order to experience the true grace of God and fullness of the life in the Spirit, there must be change and renewal. God told the Isaelites as they entered the promised land that if they will obey His commands and not turn aside to live in sin, then He would continue to bless them. To truly live a life after God and experience His blessings upon our life, we need to let go of the old sinful way and embrace the newness of life in the Spirit. I do not know where you stand today, but ask God what areas of your life you need to let go of and change in order to fully experience His grace and life in the Spirit.
