Three Habits To Stop Right Now

We all have habits that seem to control us on a daily basis with some being good and some not so good. Habits determine our overall quality of life and direction we are headed. It is very important to choose good habits that lead you to where you are wanting to go in life, while leaving the non-essential ones far behind you. Here is a list of three habits you need to leave behind in order to move forward in 2017.

  1. Stop doubting and start believing. Having faith is essential in order to live life to the fullest and experience the riches and blessings that the Lord wants to bestow upon us. In the book of James we read the severity of doubting, “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; for he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:6-8 NKJV). We are called to live by faith and this faith is what helps open up doors of opportunity. Without faith doors remain closed and repetition of life is what we find. In order to live fully and glorify the Father to the utmost we must live and move in faith.
  2. Stop listening to others and start being who God made you to be. Now, I am not saying to never listen to people, but we should have some sense of discernment in order to distinguish good advice from bad. We have to listen to people some, listen to ourselves more and listen to God and His word all the time. It is good to get good counsel, but bad if the counsel is trying to control your life and shape you into who they want you to be. We have all been created to be our own person in Christ and fulfill our own purposes God has given us, not follow others and accomplish their will. “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” (Psalms 139:14). When people say you can not do something, let it go and listen to your heart and what God is pressing upon it.
  3. Stop treating your body bad and start exercising and eating right. God wants us to take care of the bodies He has blessed us with and when we do take care of them, we also take care of our minds and spirit in the process. It is amazing how everything must be in balance in order to perform at our best, and unfortunately this simple habit is often overlooked. When we take care of our bodies we are more energetic and optimistic. We are ready to attack the day ahead as the endorphin’s are running on high. Paul said it perfect in 1 Corinthians, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” (16-17). Start taking care of your temple today and honor God to the utmost. Watch as you feel better both physically and mentally and start pursuing the will of God today.

These three bad habits are habits that you need to get rid of and transform into productive habits that lead you to where you are trying to go. When these three bad habits are transformed they are then capable of producing a life of quality, accomplishment and peace. Keep pushing and living for God and do not give up.
